GEAR6 Racing Game Demo

My UFO car and Sunset terrain were developed for GEAR6 –  3D team’s racing game. Yesterday Johnny Lizard published the game demo.


Lighting, Rendering and Effects in Unity3D

The task was to carry out the game effects and lighting in Unity.

Unity3D is the very multi-faceted game engine. In order to experiment with lights and effects, I created a new project in Unity3D and added a terrain to a scene. Using the terrain tools, I raised the terrain, painted height, smoothed height, painted textures and placed trees.   I got textures, trees and grasses by importing Unity3D’s Environment Package to the project. After creating  cubermap (instructions can be found here) I was able to set the cubermap to a sunset skybox . Using Directional Light settings I got the sunset time to the scene.

A Particles effect was used for creating the exhaust fumes and Spot lights for creating car’s headlamps.

In the picture below there is the result of playing with textures and materials. As it can be seen from the picture, the first car has only two materials which the rendering mode is Opacue, the used maps are Alberto and Normal ones. The second car has own materials  for the chrome parts, the glass, the lamps etc.

3ds Max

Model a simple figure using 3ds Max or Blender.

I was going to model my UFO car and drew two more sketches (from the top and from the side) to be able to use them when modelling. I decided to concentrate  on 3ds Max. Unfortunately, I am not able to use this software at home as it crushes. So I stayed at a class room yesterday and model the simplest part of my car, namely, the tyre rim. Here it is.


car-tyre_natalia_3dsmax…   Well, the tyre is ready.It is too detailed, as my car will be used in the  school game. I worked with the car on last friday (23.9.2016) and went a little bit ahead. See the picture below .


Kindred Official Trailer

The trailer was published in YouTube on 19.8.2016 with the next notes.

“Kindred is an adventure platformer game. Set in a twisted dream forest setting, filled with subconcious terrors fueled by main character Santeri’s old traumas from his past life as a warrior. Use your wits to help Santeri overcome his fears and escape his terrifying nightmare.”

My graphic, the water and the owl animations are represented between 29 and 42 seconds.
