Make user interface concepts for an imaginary real-time international diplomacy 4X game.


This was the teamwork exercise. We chose Galactic civilizations, Civilization 5, Sins of a solar empire games as prototypes and decided to make user interfaces to five windows: main UI (Europe map), world map UI, economy window UI, military power window UI, diplomacy window UI.

Developing a concept for the economy window UI of a console game, I chose a black background because all light colors stand out easily and look good. I limited the amount of information. Navigation and steering may be done with console panel buttons only.

Next, I developed the economy window UI of an imaginary mobile game. The economy information was set to the left edge. I drew icons and bars to minimize space used for the economy window.

Semi-transparent light brown color was chosen as the background color of a PC game. Here the informative icons were used also as the buttons for closing and opening the sub-windows. The sub-windows can be moved within the economy window.
